Speech 2: Self Concept Speech

Date:  starting January 26 or later                       Grade: 100 points

Assignment: Tell about yourself as you are now, and how you imagine you will be 10-20 years from now.

Length: 2 to 4 minutes. Less than two minutes will be considered incomplete, and you will be expected to continue.

Preparation: Prepare a poster that displays images, pictures, words, and symbols that are about you. On one side should be pictures that show what you are like now; on the other side, pictures that show what you imagine you will be like in the future.

Visual Aids and Gestures: You must have a poster. Practice doing your speech while referring to the poster during the speech. You will not use cards or notes on paper during this speech.

Grading: Your speech will be evaluated in these areas--

bulletCompleteness of assignment: balanced coverage of present life & future plans
bulletClarity of ideas: easy to follow, main topics clear
bulletDepth of detail: explanation of main interests & plans with specific detail
bulletDelivery: posture, voice, poise, eye contact
bulletPoster: attractive arrangement of images; readable for audience; use of poster in speech

Ø Study the comments on your evaluation sheet and the videotape of your speech. On your own paper, copy and answer the following questions in 2-4 complete sentences each.

Ø Return your answers with your videotape. Do not rewind videotape, but leave it set at the end of Speech 1 so we tape the next speech after Speech 1.
